Head Coach-Jacob Schroeder
Jacob Schroeder has been coaching for eight years at the recreational
and club levels in Santa Barbara and all the way up to Redding. Jake
earned a swimming scholarship at the University of California at Santa
Barbara and won two conference championships in the 100 breaststroke.
He also qualified for the Olympic trials when he was 19. Jake’s home
town is Whitmore, 30 miles east of Redding, in Northern California, and
he has been swimming competitively since he was 4. He is an outdoor
enthusiast that loves lake swims, running and mountain biking.
“Balanced training and workouts that build on success are my everyday
goals. Oh yeah, and I love dry land training.”
Head Assistant Coach-Rachel Ridgeway
Rachel joins the Crow Canyon coaching staff after completing her own
swimming career at the Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 Butterfly and
the 200 IM. Rachel was a 4-year letter winner at CAL and a
multiple-time NCAA All American. She was a captain at Berkeley her
fourth year and final year of swimming under Teri MgKeever. Before
coming out to California, Rachel was a 4 time Illinois High School
Champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle her junior and senior years. She
was a member of one of the best swim clubs; Lake Forest Swim Club in
Illinois and helped them win numerous consecutive State Championships
while winning more than 25 state titles individually.
Aquatics Director-Dan Cottam
Dan has been coaching for 12 years at the high school, club and
recreational level and for the past 5 years served as the head coach
for the Crow Canyon Sealions Dan is one of the co-head coaches for
the Crow Canyon Sharks. In addition, he previously served as the head
coach of the men’s and women’s swim teams at Acalanes High School in
Lafayette. The East Bay native started swimming at 5 years old and
continued through college. Dan earned a swimming scholarship to the
University of California at Santa Barbara where he was a four-year
member of the Gauchos swim team, winning the conference title in the
1650 yard freestyle.
Assistant Coach-Ethan Hall
Ethan Hall has been coaching for eight years at the club and
recreational level. He is also one of the co-head coaches for the Crow
Canyon Sharks year-round team. The East Bay native began swimming as a
young child. Ethan competed in the 1996 and 2000 U.S. Olympic trials.
He earned a swimming scholarship and began his college career at the
University of North Carolina before finishing at the University of
California at Santa Barbara where he captured the conference title in
the 100 yard breaststroke
